HL-60 HL-60 cell HL-60 is a promyelocytic cell line. Peripheral blood leukocytes come from a 36-year-old white woman with acute granular-monocytic leukemia. HL-60 can spontaneously differentiate, and butyrate, hypoxanthine, phorbol myristic acid (PMA, TPA), DMSO (1% to 1.5%), actinomycin D and retinoic acid can promote differentiation. The cells show phagocytosis activity and respond to chemotaxis stimulation. The oncogenic gene myc expression is positive.
