SK-OV-3 SK-OV-3 cell SK-OV-3 was isolated from the peritoneal effusion of a 64-year-old white female patient with ovarian adenocarcinoma by Trempe G and Old LJ in 1973. The cells are resistant to tumor necrosis factor and several cytotoxic drugs, including diphtheria toxin, cisplatin and adriamycin. The cells form tumors in nude mice and form moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma consistent with ovarian carcinoma in situ.
