It is subdivided into dorsal and ventral. It is also subdivided into three epithelial cell layers; superficial, intermediate and basal cell layer of dorsal/ventral pelvic urethra. At TS:23, the epithelium of dorsal pelvic urethra of male is also comprised of urogenital sinus ridge of male and rest of dorsal epithelium of pelvic urethra of male.
