There are 4 distinct regions, three of them present in both hemispheres. Obsoleted as the taste sensory region does not have a true glomerular structure (Miyazaki and Ito (2010) - FBrf0211916). These 'glomerulus' regions are sensory regions of the SEZ (FBbt:0005193), but do not precisely correspond to any of the more recently described regions.
