It extends dorso-anteriorly from the ventral nerve cord and then dorso-laterally, bending around the anterior face of the anterior tergosternal muscles before splitting into branches that innervate the lateral muscles near the body wall, beneath the base of the wing (Power, 1948). It also sends a branch between the anterior tergosternal muscles (Power, 1948).
