Its cell bodies are located in the lateral cell body region, away from the neuropil and always ventral to aSP-k cell bodies. Neurites project dorsally on the surface of the ventrolateral protocerebrum before entering a tract in the neuropil region below the lateral horn. Unlike aSP-k, the projection from the cell body does not bend before entering the tract.
