juvenile elephant A metaphorical phrase for trans women expounded upon in the novel Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters. The term refers to how many trans women grow up without parental figures and with severe trauma as a result of compound epidemics among transgender elders of the previous generation (HIV, suicide, homicide, substance abuse, and invisibility, to name a few). This phenomenon was then used by Peters to describe what has been called "triple T" or transgender imposter syndrome in the past, i.e. the idea that "You're not doing trans right.
