The GSTO enzymes occur as homodimers (Board et al. 2000), and while both have dehydroascorbate reductase activity in vitro, that of GSTO2 is much greater than that of GSTO1 (Schmuck et al. 2005). Polymorphisms affecting the activities of the two enzymes have been described (Whitbread et al. 2005).
