They have been shown to transport the prototypical LCFA oleic acid but are believed to be able to transport LCFAs with chain lengths longer than 10 carbons. FATP1 is highly expressed in adipose tissue and muscle (Hatch GM et al, 2002). FATP4 is the major intestinal LCFA transporter (Fitscher BA et al, 1998; Stahl A et al, 1999). FATP6 is localized to cardiac myocytes (Gimeno RE et al, 2003).
