It is thought to be involved in the invasive behaviour of breast cancer cells where depletion of hZIP10 and intracellular zinc levels inhibit the migratory effects these cells (Kagara N et al, 2007). Functional characterization of this transporter was elucidated in the rat orthologue rZip10.
