This effacement may result in sheets of cells that do not form clear architecture (seen in many lymphomas) or may lead to replacement of the normal architecture by atypical architecture, for example effacement of normal lymph node architecture (including normal follicles and patent lymph node sinuses) by many abnormal follicles in follicular lymphoma.
