Sinusoidal dilatation and congestion (SDC) in liver biopsy is often the result of venous outflow impairment. This impairment can occur at the level of the small hepatic veins (veno-occlusive disease), large hepatic veins (Budd-Chiari syndrome), or the heart (right-sided heart failure, tricuspid valve disease, constrictive pericarditis).
