It has a high mortality rate and patients typically present with fever, pallor and respiratory signs (cough, tachnypnea, pneumonia). Gastrointestinal manifestations (diarrhea, vomit, abdominal pain) are not common. Occasionally, organ absseses, septic shock and meningitis may be observed.
