Base Unit of International System of Units
Mole
A unit of amount of substance, one of the seven base units of the International System of Units (Systeme International d'Unites, SI). It is the amount of substance that contains as many elementary units as there are atoms in 0.012 kg of carbon-12. When the mole is used, the elementary entities must be specified and may be atoms, molecules, ions, electrons, other particles, or specified groups of such particles.
