PERSON: Bill Duncan
This relation holds between some restorative material and some part of a tooth in which the restorative material restores or replaces lost tooth structure, oral tissues, tooth (structural) integrity, or tooth functioning.
Bill Duncan 6/27/2012:
This relation is intended to capture the relationship between restorative materials, such as amalagam, and the tooth (or teeth) that is being repaired. Some examples in which this relation obtains include fillings, crowns, bridges, and inlays.
It is going to be a shortcut relation between the material, the tooth in which the material is located, and the site formed for the restoration (e.g., a hole formed by drilling). The details of this still need to be worked out.
