<ns2:IAO_0000115>The Laboratory of RadioToxicology (LRT) at CEA Arpajon is the principal French facility dedicated to studying the biological effects and biokinetics of internally incorporated alpha-emitting actinides (primarily plutonium and americium) using in vitro and in vivo animal models including rats and non-human primates. Its main mission is to improve radiological protection of nuclear industry workers potentially exposed to actinides by inhalation or through wounds, generating experimental data on dissolution parameters, biokinetics and actinide-induced carcinogenesis. The facility also maintains a legacy tissue repository ('Rat Actinide Repository') of around 3000 samples and 7000 tissue sections from 1500 rats contaminated since the 1960s. Located at CEA.</ns2:IAO_0000115>
