radiation research sample bank Biobank of Eastern Finland http://www.easternfinlandbiobank.fi http://www.concert-h2020.eu/en/Concert_info/Access_Infrastructures/Bulletins The Biobank of Eastern Finland, established in 2015 in Kuopio by the Hospital Districts of Eastern Finland and the University of Eastern Finland, is a hospital-integrated clinical biobank with a catchment population of over 800,000, collecting blood, serum, plasma, tissue (FFPE and frozen) and DNA samples from consenting new hospital patients ('Capture all newcomers' principle). Existing pathology archives contain 250,000 samples from 100,000 persons connected with clinical records, and the biobank operates under the Finnish Biobank Act (2013). It is particularly valuable for population-based studies on disease markers and for investigating radiation-associated health effects in a genetically homogeneous population isolate.
