radiation research sample bank Radiobiological Human Tissue Repository (RHTR) Paul Schofield The Radiobiological Human Tissue Repository (RHTR/RHRTR) at SUBI Ozyorsk, initiated in 1970, holds a collection of biological samples (organs and tissues fixed in formalin, embedded in paraffin blocks and stored as histology slides) from the Mayak PA worker cohort, constituting a unique resource for investigating biological mechanisms of radiation-induced cancer and non-cancer outcomes and for identifying radiation exposure biomarkers in individuals exposed to prolonged low-dose ionising radiation. Each patient or relative provided informed consent, and the SUBI Review Board grants and annually reviews permissions for use of the samples. An online catalogue is available at http://rhtr.subi.su.
