radiation epidemiology cohort Mayak worker cohort (MWC) Paul Schofield The Mayak worker cohort (MWC) at SUBI comprises workers at the Mayak plutonium production facility who received among the highest documented occupational radiation doses in history, with external gamma and internal alpha (plutonium) and beta (Sr-90) exposures, making it a uniquely valuable resource for radiation risk assessment at doses above those in other occupational cohorts. The cohort data and associated Radiobiological Human Tissue Repository (RHTR) enable investigation of radiation-induced cancer mechanisms, non-cancer outcomes such as cardiovascular disease, and biomarkers of exposure.
