radiation research analytical platform HZDR-Radioanalytical Laboratories The HZDR radioanalytical laboratories provide specialist capabilities for studying radionuclide speciation and sorption in environmental systems using techniques including X-ray absorption spectroscopy at the ROBL beamline at the ESRF synchrotron (Grenoble), vibrational spectroscopy and radiochemical methods. Research focuses on the molecular-level interactions of actinides and fission products with mineral surfaces and organic matter, underpinning predictive models for radionuclide migration in contaminated sites and repositories. Access is subject to surveillance by experienced HZDR scientists and national radiation protection guidelines.
