Due to their migration from Egypt to other parts of Africa, the Bassa in Liberia share a similar history with Bassa groups in other parts of the continent such as Nigeria (Bassa Nge), The Democratic Republic of the Congo (Bassaa la Mpasu), Togo (Basa'r), Senegal (Bassa-Ri), and Cameroon (Basaa Mpoo).
