The Korthorn had its great period in from 1900 to 1950 after which the breed did not meet increased production demands. Today, breeding has separated it into the old dairy (dual-purpose) line and the more modern Beefshorthorn. The old line was never crossed with Beefshorthorn. The concept of “breed reported in geographic location by FAO National Coordinators” is unique to DAD-IS (https://www.fao.org/dad-is/en/).
