This VBO term should therefore be used specifically for the breed conforming to this concept. ZD-1 VBO:0010127 Indigenous breed created by crossing four native varieties: Sub-Carpatian, Suwalska, Garbonosa and Pomeranian. Breeding work started in the National Institute of Animal Production in 1956. Bred as a closed population and selected for body weight and laying rate since 1961. In 1967 the flock was transferred to Experimental Station of University of Agriculture in Krakow. Until 1984 maintained as a pedigree flock, and then in the years 1985-95 changed into breeding material reserve flock. Included into the geese genetic resources in 1996.
