Composite of Estonian, Hackney (1896-1926) cross-bred with Breton Posthorse (till 1970) and Hannover (recent years) it has also some influence from other breeds such as Norfolk, East Friesian and Holstein. At present the main breeding goal is a lighter horse type. The concept of “breed reported in geographic location by FAO National Coordinators” is unique to DAD-IS (https://www.fao.org/dad-is/en/).
