This VBO term should therefore be used specifically for the breed conforming to this concept. VBO:0014752 This variety of Polish Longwool Sheep was developed in the Kamieniec farm, the Breeding Centre in Susz near Olsztyn, in the years 1954-65. The starting point were primitive Pomeranian and Swiniarka type ewes which were initially upgraded by Leine and Texel rams and then crossed with Romney Marsh rams. Selected progeny was mated to each other. The program on prolificacy improvement in the national sheep population was introduced in 1994. The final genotype of ewes in maternal breeds should contain l/4 of the prolific genotype and 3/4 of the local breed genotype. Nowadays the breed is kept in the Olsztyn region.
